The American Institute of Diamond Cutting was founded by an accomplished diamond cutter, Nizam Peters, in 1980. Today the Institute is recognized internationally and continues to provide a quality education to students from around the world. Current instructors include Stephen Hofer, instructor in the Fancy Colored Diamond Program. Hofer has been in the field of colored diamonds since the very early 80's and has had accomplishments such as examining the Hope blue diamond, publishing a seven-year study and speaking at the 1981 International Gemological Symposium in Los Angeles. Also at the American Institute of Diamond Cutting is Svetlana Frank, a fancy color specialist and diamond cutter and Leslie Peters, a diamond cutter and rough specialist.
